This month I’d like to talk about a group of five muscles that make up the Hip Flexor Group; Iliacus, Psoas, Pectineus, Rectus Femoris and Sartorius.
This group of muscles function in flexing the hip; every time you take a step, you are using your hip flexor muscles. More so, these group of muscles are important in keeping the pelvis in balance. Having a strong core and practicing good posture is key to strengthen hip flexors. Hip Flexors are prone to injury and stretching these muscles will help to prevent this. A great stretch for the area is the Pigeon Yoga Pose.
