The Importance Of Drinking Enough Water

Water makes up two thirds of our body weight and it is vital to drink enough water to support healthy body function.

I find myself writing this blog after I started a couple of runs recently and found that very quickly I became dehydrated. I quickly realised that I was actually functioning most days on not enough water, how then was I to except my body to function with exercise!

I never really understood what people meant when they said they don’t have the time to drink lots of water in the day…until I had children! I know not only understand, but can also class myself in that group of people struggling to find the time to care for themselves while they spend the day caring for others.

However, If there is one thing for you to focus on, it is the importance of drinking enough water. Not drinking enough water has a detrimental effect on so many aspects of health from energy levels, to reduced body function from the extremes of our internal organs, to joint mobility, reaction time and strength, flexibility and more! The list here is quite literally endless!

It is recommended to drink 2 litres of water a day and even more if you are exercising or regularly active! If you’d like to talk more about water and it’s importance from everyday life function to sports performance, including sports performance drinks and when best to use them please feel free to contact me.

Have a great fully hydrated day!
